Small and narrow dual sports like the CRF300L are probably one of the hardest bikes for drivers to see on the road. We wanted front auxiliary LED lighting on our Honda CRF300L Project Bike so that our bike would stand out in traffic, and also to provide better lighting if we ever get caught out on the road/trail after dark. We’ve used Denali lighting on our Tenere 700 project bike, and it is super high quality stuff, so on our CRF300L we went with their DM line of LED lights. The DM Lights are small in size at about 1.7″ wide. Denali also offers larger LED lights, like their D2 which is about 2.2″ wide by comparison. Either would work great on the CRF300L.

Technology:
The DM lights come with spot beam lenses pre-installed. These create a beam that reaches a distance of 395 feet (per pair). The included flood lenses carry an official E-Mark certification and throw a beam of light 150 feet wide. The DM’s feature Denali’s TriOptic™ Lens System, which means that each light pod has a factory-installed clear spot lens, but also includes an optional flood lens to enable three different beam options when used as a pair (Spot, Flood, or Hybrid). You can also choose to add an additional set of amber or selective yellow lenses to achieve greater performance in adverse weather conditions or to make your vehicle significantly more visible to other motorists on the road!

Mounting On The CRF300L:
To mount the LED’s, we decided to use the stock front turn signal mounting points. We had removed the stock front turn signals since we’re running Zeta Armor Handguards with their integrated LED Turn Signals, so this was the perfect spot to mount the Denali DM’s. We used 12oClockLabs Turn Signal Mount Plates to attach the DM lights to the stock turn signal mounts.

Configurations and Options:
When you order the Denali lights, you have a few options when configuring the lights. We ordered ours with the Premium Powersports Harness, which includes an illuminated on/off switch that mounts to your handlebars, and allows you to turn the lights on and off. We also added the DataDim Module, which is a dimmer module that’s wired in with the lights and allows you to change the intensity/brightness using your factory high beam switch! To me this DataDim module is a nice feature because we didn’t want to always have the lights on full bright, and thought it would be nice to easily switch between half and full bright.

How They Work:
The illuminated handlebar switch allows you to turn the DM’s on and off. With the DataDim module installed, when our headlight is on the normal low beam, the Denali DM’s are half bright. This half bright intensity helps make you visible on the road without blinding on-coming traffic. If we want the DM lights on full bright, we just hit the bike’s high beam switch. So, if we’re riding after dark, we use this full bright intensity to really light up the road/trail, and we can still easily alternate between half bright and full bright using the bike’s high/low beam switch if we encounter on-coming traffic.

Overall Thoughts:
Overall the Denali DM lights work great on the CRF300L. We already had a Cyclops LED headlight bulb installed, and LED running lights in our Zeta Armor Handguard, and with these new DM LED lights, we’re even more visible on the road to on-coming traffic, which is great from a safety standpoint. And now with the DM lights on the high intensity setting with our bike’s high beam headlight, it really lights up the road or trail when riding after dark. You really can’t go wrong with these DM lights from Denali.

WHERE TO BUY:
We bought our DM lights directly from Denali. If you want a slightly larger LED light, they do have other options, including the slightly larger D2 LED lights.
