If you haven’t heard the news, many moto news outlets are reporting that Yamaha has decided to discontinue the WR250R and there will be no 2021 model. You can read more about it here.
It’s really sad to see this bike go. It has achieved a very loyal following over the years and is still arguably the best small displacement dual sport bike on the market. Let’s hope Yamaha is planning another dual sport offering, perhaps a 450 dual sport to compete with Honda’s CRF450RL, or maybe even a Tenere 300 adventure bike to go along with their new Tenere 700!
The WR250R has always had an excellent selection of aftermarket parts available for it, but now that the bike has been discontinued, you can expect manufacturers to scale back their offerings. If you have a WR250R and want to farkle it out, you’d better do that now while you still can.
