Honda spec’d their CRF250L Rally with flimsy plastic deflectors instead of real handguards, so we immediately wanted to get a set of Zeta Armor Handguards on our project bike. We sell a lot of those for the standard CRF250L, but weren’t sure how they would fit the Rally model thanks to its fixed mounted digital display and windshield, which do not move when you turn the handlebars.
We first tried the basic Zeta Armor Handguards on our project bike with the stock handlebars using the standard clamps that come with the handgaurds. These fit fine with about 1/4″ of clearance between the handguard and edge of the digital display, and about 3/4″ clear of the windshield, at full lock. Phewwww, they fit!
Next we decided to upgrade the handlebars on our bike to a set of 1 1/8″ Pro Taper Contours (Henry/Reed bend) using Pro Taper Universal Solid mounts to mount them. We put the same Zeta Armor Handguards back on and they still fit… plenty of clearance with the display and windshield at full lock. Nice!
We also tried replacing the handlebar clamps from the Armor Handguards with a pair of the Zeta U-Clamps that are an option with the beefier Zeta PRO Armor Handguards, to see if those would fit. This setup fit too, so that means the Zeta PRO Armor Handguards with 1 1/8″ U-Clamps will fit the CRF250L Rally also! We haven’t tried the Triple Clamp Mount kit yet with the PRO’s… there are a few cable guides in the way and weren’t sure if we could easily get the Front Mount style triple clamp mounts on.
Recommendations:
If you have the stock handlebars on your CRF250L Rally, we recommend the Zeta Armor handguards in 7/8″ size. We installed them in black with the red plastic Zeta XC protectors and it looks pretty sweet…

If you’ve upgraded to oversize aluminum 1 1/8″ handlebars on your CRF250L Rally, we recommend the Zeta PRO Armor Handguards with 1 1/8″ U-Clamp Mount Kit…
