For street and supermoto riding, we have our 2008 Yamaha WR250R converted to a supermoto. The conversion was very straightforward and easy to do. Once we sourced our WR250R supermoto wheels and tires, it was just a matter of swapping out the stock dual sport wheels/tires for the supermoto setup. Up front, in order to clear the 17″ supermoto tire, we had to re-route the front brake line to the outside of the fork leg and also trim the plastic fork protectors. Out back, everything went right on without a fuss, although we did change to a 42t rear sprocket. You’ll also need a shorter kickstand, otherwise the bike will stand too upright… we just bought an OEM Yamaha WR250X (2008-2011 model years will fit) kickstand.
