This past weekend I got a set of DRC Motard footpegs installed on our DRZ400SM Project Bike. The factory footpegs on the DRZ400SM, which are the same as the ones on the dual sport version, are a too long (stick out too far) and narrow for aggressive street or track riding. I’m always worried about scraping them on the pavement in turns. These DRC Motard footpegs have a slightly wider platform and are shorter (stick out less), so they lessen the likelihood of scraping on the pavement. And if they do contact the pavement, the plastic peg slider attached to the bottom will slide rather than dig in.

Installation:
Installation is pretty simple. The first thing you have to do, obviously, is remove the stock footpegs. The left side peg comes off real easily, but the right one takes a bit longer since you need to move the rear brake lever out of the way. Once that’s done, it’s just a matter of putting on the new DRC motard footpegs using the OEM footpeg springs that were removed with the stock pegs.

Final Thoughts:
I really like these things! The wider platform, as shown above, feels much better than the narrow stock pegs, and since the footpegs stick out less than the stock pegs, there is much less likelihood you will drag them on the pavement. If you do, the plastic slider will keep the pegs from digging in and damaging the pavement, or worse, causing a crash. The black powdercoat finish also looks really cool. I highly recommended these for the DRZ400SM (or S)!
